Sterile, transparent, water-based amorphous gel (hydrogel) (>70%), calcium alginate, and carboxymethylcellulose, indicated for the removal of necrotic tissue. It rehydrates the necrotic tissue by removing it without damaging the newly formed tissue or causing trauma to the patient. It facilitates autolytic debridement and absorbs excess exudate from the wound. Hydromed gel is nonadherent and can be removed by irrigation with saline without damaging the newly formed fragile tissue or causing trauma to the patient. Remains in situ after application
Hydromed Gel is primarily intended for the treatment of necrotic and sloughy wounds, e.g. leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and non-infected diabetic foot ulcers.
Hydromed Gel may also be used on 1st and 2nd degree burns.
The gel may be used throughout the healing process to provide a moist wound healing environment in all types of wounds.
